ANSI character sets (Was: The Next Step)

In principle it is very convenient to use the accented characters available
in the ANSI standard set, but dont leave all of us who do not have a
keyboard that allows us to enter these characters by the wayside! (Oh dear,
talk about *ambiguous* sentences... I can only blame my lack of foresight
and the stupid line editor mailer -- I did not mean "characters by the
wayside" to come out like that. Shows the importance of those little
squiggly things (commas and the like), I guess. Sorry!)
